Holly Argent: 'Interleaving the Archive (Group Action with KK)'

Holly Argent’s performative lecture brings together spoken semi-fictive narrative, photographic transparents and live video-feed projection around the archive of Polish artists duo Przemyslaw Kwiek and Zofia Kulik (KwieKulik or ‘KK’). KwieKulik’s work challenged their situation as artists working under communist rule in Warsaw in the People’s Republic of Poland between 1971-87. Argent’s script illuminates her own subjective experience of researching KwieKulik’s activities, which included earning, creating, dancing, mailing, commentating and archive making. The performance meditates on KwieKulik’s relevance to the current status of ‘art workers’ in contemporary capitalist economies.
